You only need to get a bus (bus stop called Liptovský Ján, zot. Ďumbier) or drive for 8 kilometres from the Liptovský Mikuláš town and you will find yourself in Liptovský Ján, a village with a number of well-preserved mansions and manors. The village is, however, mostly famous for its mineral springs that have been used since the 14th century. You can enjoy their curative effects either in the
thermal swimming pools that are open only in summer or in the
indoor swimming pool of the Sorea Máj hotel and the
Kaďa natural swimming pool which are open to public all year round.
The Underground beneath the towers exposition and the
Svätojánske museum is just a short distance from the Kaďa swimming pool. The adjacent Jánska valley is well known for the beauty of its nature, with the
Stanišovská cave being its main attraction. At the entrance to the Jánska valley, there is another attraction waiting for you –
a park with the miniatures of famous buildings in Slovakia.

4. Undeground beneath the towers
Find out what needs to be done to change a piece of iron ore into a coin! This unique exhibition explains the whole procedure thoroughly. After all, iron ore and even gold had been mined in the nearby Jánska valley for centuries. Before a coin was minted, ore had to be crushed and washed in buddle pits. You can try the whole procedure using original tools. You will find the exposition in an indigenous house next to the Church of St. John the baptist located at the outskirts of the village.
Underground beneath the tower, Pod vežami 150, 033 02 Liptovský Ján
The Liptovský Ján village, once known as the village of Saint Ján, is closely connected with a famous family of the lords of Sentiváni, meaning “Saint Jáns”. You can learn more about the most famous personalities of the Sentiváni family at the museum located in the basement of a manor house that once used to belong to one of the members of the Sentiváni family. Period costumes and objects collected from the mansion houses owned by the family are also exhibited. Other parts of the exhibition feature the history of the Liptovský Ján village and the natural beauty of the Jánska valley.
