The museum is housed in a former Jesuit monastery. Do not be fooled by the historical appearance of this building, the museum is modern and interactive from the underground to the lookout tower. You can embark on a great expedition for the beauty, diversity and mysteries of nature with two permanent exhibitions on an area of 1,400 m2. The Karst and Cave exhibition presents the phenomenon of karst in all its contexts from the origin and development of the cave, cave decoration, archaeological findings to the work of aspeleologist. Here you can try crawling in the cave. In the first part of the exhibition „Protected Nature of Slovakia - Earth, a Place to Live“, you will experience the atmosphere of the Earth's origin, see protected and precious minerals, as well as fragments of Slovak meteorites, a diverse kingdom of plants, mushrooms and animals which exhibits are located in natural ecosystems. The atmosphere is supported by sound effects –bird singing, marmot whistling, andwolf howling. An interesting experience is to crawl into a bear's lair. The second part of the exhibition “Protected Nature of Slovakia - Man, Mountains, NATURA 2000” maps the impact of economic and leisure activities of man on the landscape and surrounding nature. You can end your tour in the museum´slookout tower, from where you will get a view of the panorama of the surrounding mountains and the ancient landmarks of the town.
