The exhibition easily and comprehensibly documents the difficult period of the Slovak national movement from 1780 to the revolution in 1848-49. Here you will find portraits of the most important personalities and the most important events clearly captured on a timeline. It was at this parsonage that events of all-Slovak significance took place, namely the founding of the first Slovak cultural association Tatrín in 1844, and four years later the people of Štúr wrote the first political program of the Slovaks - Demands of the Slovak Nation, in which the Constitution of the Slovak Republic has its origins. About thirty people from Štúr gathered here, among them Ľudovít Štúr, Michal Miloslav Hodža and Jozef Miloslav Hurban, who were among the most influential men of their time. They passionately discussed and looked for ways to improve the life of the Slovak nation. Finally, they formulated their demands into 14 points, then publicly announced them in the nearby Ondrašovský spa and addressed them to the Hungarian government and parliament. It was a brave act for which a warrant was issued for their arrest and they were threatened with imprisonment. And what did they actually ask for? You can read it point by point when you sit down at the big table in their places. On the chairs you will find portraits of individual actors and you can even wear period costumes. It is no coincidence that the Requests were written in this parish. At that time, Michal Miloslav Hodža worked here as a priest, and the people of Štúr met at his place. When you visit this exhibition, you will know everything a good Slovak should know about these revolutionary events.
In the second part of the rectory there is a historical library. The foundation is Tranovského's library with valuable copies of the Cithara sanctorum. The library consists of more than 2200 valuable books, prints and manuscripts. The oldest book dates from 1592. The library belongs to Tranoscius, one of the oldest Slovak publishing houses, which in 1898 was owned by the St. Nicholas Evangelicals. It is also accessible to researchers.
