St. Nicholas Church
The oldest architectural monument of the town is at the same time the largest early Gothic building in the region of Liptov.

Initially, the St Nicholas Church stand alone in the middle of the countryside. Gradually, a settlement and later the town of Saint Nicholas (Svätý Mikuláš) was developed around it. Originally, it was only a small Romanesque church, which took over the role of the sacristy during further reconstruction in 1280-1300, and today it is the oldest part of this majestic sacred building. The church has undergone several alterations over the centuries. The early Gothic appearance was given to it during an extensive reconstruction in 1941-1943, when the side chapels were added and beautiful stained glass windows were installed. The interior preserves a stone baptistery from 1490 with a wrought copper Baroque cap, and especially, three rare Gothic panel altars. The central statue of the main altar is St. Nicholas, who gave the name to the church and the town, and is also depicted on town´s seal and coat-of-arms. The main entrance to the church is decorated by the figure of blessing Nicholas.
