Koloman Sokol Gallery

It represents the largest collection of works by an excellent graphic artist, a native of Liptovský Mikuláš Koloman Sokol, whose work was also appreciated by Pablo Picasso.

Koloman Sokol (* December 12, 1902 Liptovský Mikuláš † January 13, 2003 Tucson, Arizona)
The basis of the permanent exhibition is 48 top works, which the artist dedicated to his native country. Koloman reached for social motives, he depicting hunger, misery, emaciated vagabonds, afflicted mothers, and motifs of horses, riders and dogs were common. His impressive works are usually black and white, later also enlivened by colour, but with a distinctive black contour. The collection of graphics and drawings is complemented by Sokol's biography, personal objects and images by the renowned Slovak photographer Tibor Huszar, which were created during his visit to Master Sokol in the United States. You can get to know not only the unique artistic expression of Koloman Sokol, but also his dramatic life story. The gallery is located in the historical premises of the Pongrác Manor House, which is the second oldest architectural monument in the town.
