The third oldest gallery in Slovakia has the largest exhibition hall among Slovak galleries and manages more than 5.300 works.

At present, the gallery has five permanent exhibitions and an exhibition hall, where large group exhibitions, thematic, collective or author exhibitions take place. The adjoining gallery garden is a popular relaxation area in the middle of the historic centre.
"The Origin of the painting" exhibition paintings, icons and sculptures of the 15th - 19th centuries. It offers an insight into the chronological beginnings of painting, iconography and sculpture from gallery collections, while a large number of presented works have so far been stored in depository spaces, out of sight of visitors.
The exhibition of „Portrait, Landscape, Genre in a Representative Cross-Section“ represents the development of Slovak painting in the 19th century. Portrait painting (Czauczik, Klemens) and landscape themes of the second half of the 19th century (E. Ballo, Medňanský, Skutecký, etc.) are the main themes represented in the exhibition.
“The Bohúň´s Hall“ exhibition is dedicated to the creative personality of Peter Michal Bohúň (1822 - 1879), the founder of a realistic portrait. His works are characterized by a calm classical composition, harmonious richness of colour and perfect painting of details. He focused mainly on portraits of burgesses and nationalists, but he also painted altar paintings, and created cycles of costumed Slovaks. He devoted himself to lithography and photography. In the exhibition you can admire 32 Bohúň´s paintings.
„The 20th Century - Modernism“ exhibition represents the work of the founding generation of modern Slovak art in the first half of the 20th century, which draws on themes from the rural, later urban and intimate environment. These are painters influenced by Art Nouveau, symbolism, expressionism (Zolo Palugyay, Anton Jasusch, Edmund Gwerk), artists overlapping the European modernism (Ľudovít Fulla, Mikuláš Galanda, I. Weiner Kráľ) and members of the so-called Generation 1909 (Jan Mudroch, Ján Želibský, Ladislav Čemický, Ester Š. Martinčeková and others).
„The Liptov Exposition“ – a home and exile with works by Slovak visual art personalities from the second half of the 20th century to the present. Liptov is important for the authors in various ways. At the same time their work transcends this local space and influences culture in a national or even international sense (Ester Š. Martinčeková, Martin Martinček, Miroslav Ksandr, Michal Kern, Milan Adamčiak, Ján Kudlička, Mira Podmanická, Marek Jarotta and others).
The gallery garden with benches, where the signatures of Mikulas´s artists are hidden, is an ideal place to relax. Or you can bring delicious treats and have a small picnic on the fragrant grass. You can borrow a picnic blanket from the box in the garden. There is also an interesting playground waiting for families with children.
