The main exposition “Chapters from the History of the Town”, and “Jánošík´s Torture Chamber and Courtroom” are situated in the ancient premises of the first County Hall and the Strauss House in the historic centre. The museum includes other interesting expositions: “Tatrín and Demands of the Slovak Nation”, “Birth House of the Rázus Siblings”, “Synagogue”, and “Carrier Pigeon Breeding”.
The exhibition “Chapters from the History of the Town” will take you through the history of Liptovský Mikuláš documented from the first written mention of the town in 1286 until the period of World War II. View a replica of the Ondrašová Bronze Treasure from the 9th century BC, Baroque wooden sculptures, that were once a part of the main altar of the St Nicholas Church, and a rare painting of the nobleman Pongrac II, one of the most influential people in Hungary in the 15th century. Take a look into the room of the romantic poet Janko Kral and the life of the world-famous inventor Aurel Stodola, who was respected by Einstein himself! Meet the leading local families and tanneries that made Liptovský Mikuláš famous far beyond the country's borders. Be sure to stop by the museum's historical library with 4.500 rare titles.
